Since 1989

Our Story

Gallery Row is a working fine arts gallery in the heart of Gig Harbor. For more than three decades we've been a home for the area's makers — showing their original work, teaching, and taking part in the community that makes this town what it is.

What we are

A working gallery, a working community

A “working” gallery means the artists on our roster make a living from their craft — and they're in the building, often, making new work. We're not a white cube. We're a place where the maker is part of the experience.

Every month we refresh what's on the walls, and every first Saturday we open our doors for the Gig Harbor Art Walk. That rhythm is the heart of what we do.

The Long View

Three Decades in Gig Harbor

The gallery's story is inseparable from the town's. Here's a short look at how we got here.

1989

Gallery Row Opens

What began as a small group of local artists pooling their work in a single waterfront space quickly became a fixture of Gig Harbor's cultural life.

1990s

Growing the Roster

The gallery's artist roster grows to include watercolorists, pastellists, glass artists, jewelers, and woodturners — all working out of the same building.

2000s

Joining the Art Walk

Gig Harbor's first-Saturday Art Walk takes off, and Gallery Row becomes one of its founding participants. The monthly refresh of offerings becomes the gallery's rhythm.

Today

A Living Community

Fifteen local artists, eight disciplines, and a community of collectors and students. We're still doing the same thing we started with — showing original work by Gig Harbor's makers.

When we started, it was a few of us with a wall to hang on and a lot of conviction. Thirty-five years later, the conviction is the same — the roster is bigger, the mediums are wider, and the community is deeper. We'd like to thank every collector, student, and visitor who's made this possible.
